Waitlark for Hardware

Know who’ll buy before you make it.

A production run or a crowdfunding campaign is a big bet. A waitlist shows how many people want the product and which version they’d pick, before you order parts or set a campaign goal.

Where it gets hard

Interest is hard to read

A thousand email addresses feel like demand. Some of those people would buy on day one and some were curious for a minute, and a plain list can’t tell you which.

Which version do you make?

Colours and sizes multiply the parts you order. Guess wrong and boxes of the wrong thing sit on a shelf.

A cold list on campaign day

When the campaign opens, you want people ready to back it. A list that heard nothing for months may have forgotten why they signed up.

How it goes with Waitlark

  1. A page before the prototype is done

Every project gets a hosted page in your brand, with an optional countdown to launch day and a signup counter that only appears once the list passes a number you pick.

  2. Ask which version they want

Ask which colour people would pick in the welcome flow, or let them vote on features. Each question gets its own breakdown, so you see the split before you order parts.

  3. Find the channel that brings buyers

UTM tags and the referring site are stored with each signup. Per channel you see the share of signups and how many of them confirmed, so you know where to spend before the campaign.

    Source tracking →
  4. Let early fans spread it

Every signup gets a share link. Each confirmed friend moves them up the line, with rewards at the counts you choose, such as early access at 3 or a discount code at 10.

    Referrals →
  5. Ask for a deposit

Deposits are planned for after Waitlark opens: a small, refundable deposit right after signup, on your own Stripe account. Waitlark never holds funds or sees card details.

For example

Say you’re designing a modular bike light and can’t decide between one colour and two. The hosted page goes up with a share image, the welcome flow asks which colour people would pick, and a vote asks which mount matters most. A month later you can see the colour split and which channel brought people who confirm. That’s what goes into your campaign plan.

Waitlark for Hardware: common questions

Can people put down a deposit?
Not yet. Refundable deposits on your own Stripe account are planned for after Waitlark opens, without a date yet. Until then, confirmed signups and their answers show you who’s interested.
How do I tell my list the campaign is live?
Short updates from the dashboard are planned. Until then, export a CSV of everyone who confirmed, or point a webhook at Zapier, Make or n8n to pass each confirmed signup to your email tool.
Can I find out which version people want?
Yes. Ask in the welcome flow as a single choice or a vote, and read the breakdown per question. You can filter the list on any answer and export it as CSV.
